Spotlight on Kathleen Kim (AMADIGI's Sorceress Melissa)

This summer, soprano Kathleen Kim returns to Central City Opera to perform as the villainous sorceress Melissa in Amadigi di Gaula.  Described as "stellar" (Boulder Daily Camera critic Wes Blomster) with a "big, gleaming voice" (Denver Post critic Kyle MacMillan), Kathleen has been admired from coast to coast (and beyond), and has performed for Boston Lyric Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and several times for the Metropolitan Opera.

In 2009, Kathleen portrayed the sorceress Armida in Central City Opera's production of Rinaldo. Below is her "Furie terribili" - Armida, enchantress and lover of the Saracen King Argante, arrives to help Argante conquer the Christian army.

This Sunday, July 10th, at 8:30 p.m. you can watch Kathleen from the comfort of your own living room. Tune in to Denver PBS Channel 12 for the Metropolitan Opera's premiere production of John Adams' Nixon in China on Great Performances, where she plays Mao Tse-tung's wife Chiang Ch'ing.
